Description

A map of the world showing the political systems of each country as of December 20th, 2012.

Notes:

-The term Two-party does not necessarily mean their are only two parties, but rather that their are only two parties that can have any real chance of electoral success and/or together dominate the political culture of the countries in question.

-Flwed democracies are countries with serious isues in terms of elections being free and fair, disenfranchisement or the structure of the political system; no country is perfect, but their are seom countries that have problems orders of magnitude worse than others.

-Cuba is a unique case since it's a Communist state (the Constitution states Communism to be the state ideology and the Communist party as a leading force in society) but it is not a single-party state, since political parties, including the Communist party, are legally forbidden from taking part in the electoral process and thusm while the Communist party is de facto the largest and most influential party, de jure all of Cuba's elected officials are non-partisan.

-North Korea is shwon the way it is since it's legally a One-party state, and actively is, but it's also a state in which the military play a major part in politics (making it a military junta) as well as a de facto Absolute Monarchy, as the Kim's rule the state and hold a massive amount of power and the positions has been passed down from Father to Son now for three generations. Incidentally N. Korea is not a Communist state as it neither practices Communism in any form and it removed any and all references to it in its laws and Constitution in the late 80's and early 90's.

Cuba is single-party, all parties all banned, while in China and North Korea they are single-party states with a few minor parties legal under the control of the single ruling party. Nk replaced communism with juche but it is actually stalinist, juche is communism with a different meaning.
